At the very beginning the chateau belonged to the Order of the Hospitallers, who were nursing the sick. After the French Revolution it was sold to the family Landard. Since 1972 the owner has been the Castéja family.
Like its famous neighbours Chateau Petrus, Clinet and L'Evangile, Chateau du Domaine de l'Eglise has an exceptional gravel soil clay with iron cast subsoil.
At the heart of Pomerol, the chateau produces ample, silky and rich wines.
