Second wine of Cos d'Estournel, the history of Cos d’Estournel begins in 1819 when the owner Louis Gaspard Lacoste de Maniban Marquis d’Estournel, inherits of some vines near the township of Cos, and decides to vinify it separately. The wine of Cos d’Estournel is born. Quickly, the wine takes the lead in front of prestigious crus and is exported to India. In 1855 Cos d’Estournel is ranked second crus classé in the classification of 1855. In all five owners were at Cos d’Estournel’s lead. The last one to date is Michel REYBIER that bought the estate in 2000. A few years after his arrival, he undertook important investments in the estate: brand new and up-to-date barrel cellar and fermentation cellar 100% by gravity: new in the region. This year, Cos d'Estournel welcomed a new president Aymeric DE GIRONDE succeeding to the former president Jean Guillaume PRATS.
