The first part of the name Lynch-Moussas, similar to that of Lynch-Bages, comes from the Irish immigrant Thomas Lynch and the second from the large Moussas plateau. On this plateau lies most of the chateau's vineyard.
Since 1919 the chateau belongs to the Castéja family who also owns Château Batailley, Château Trottevieille, Château Bergat, Domaine de l'Église and Beau Site. Philippe Castéja, executive manager of Borie-Manoux trade centre in Bordeaux, has invested a lot in the vineyard's improvement after the long period of shadowy existence.
The plantings are distributed between 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. The wine ripens in barriques 60% of them are new.
Lynch-Moussas produces supple, delicate wines which are enjoyable already in their youth.
