In the 1660’s, château Meyney was a convent and was called convent des Feuillants or Prieuré des COULEYS. Cru Bourgeois since 1932, Meyney is one of the oldest estates of the Medoc region. The estate was a family estate for many years but was then sold in 1919 by D. CORDER and then CA Grands Crus.

Built on a croup near the Gironde, the estate is located in the center of a 50 hectare vineyard all in one piece. The soils are composed of clay and gravel. The vines are 35 to 40 years old and are 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot. The grape varieties are planted on a perfectly drained soil and the conditions are ideal for a good maturity. Since 2007, the CA Grands Crus decided to adapt sustainable viniculture and enforces in this way the positive impact of practical agriculture work on the environment, while limiting the negative effects without questioning the economic profitability of the estates.

The harvest is done manually and led the medocain way. After a double shortage of the grapes in the vineyard and in the cellar, the vinification is held in mixed stainless and concrete tanks. The wines joins then the cellars where they will be aged 16 to 18 months in barrels which are within 40% new.
