The vineyards of Château Haute Batailley belonged a long time to the same estate as the neighbouring Château Batailley. In 1942 the estate was split between Marcel and François Borie as parts of a succession. Today the château is run by Xavier Borie who is also in charge of Ducru Beaucaillou and Gran Puy Lacoste. 65% of total area are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% with Merlot, 10% with Cabernet Franc. The barriques are up to 50% renewed. Compared to rather classically oriented neighbour Batailley the wines at Haute Batailley are velvety and supple. That is why they are fully enjoyable already in their youth.
