Located in Urville and currently managed by Michel Drappier, House Drappier has been a property of the Drappier Family since 1808. Yet the history of the vineyard goes back to the 12th century. With 1,5 Mio produced bottles per year and 55 ha of owned land, Drappier is one of the biggest family owned wine-growers. Champagne Drappier was chosen by Charles de Gaulle for his private receptions. He discovered Champagne Drappier and chose a cuvee rich in Pinot Noir (80%) which was renamed in homage to him.
Cultivated in a as natural as possible way, the vineyard gives life to grapes rich in complex aromas. Drappier stands for Pinot Noir, amounting to 70% of the total area. The high percentage of this grape variety ensures corpulent and fruity wines with great structure and finish. Another characteristics of the Drappier Champagne are the low dosage and low levels of Sulphur. The Brut Nature Zero Dosage sans soufre is even completely Sulphur free.
Cuvée: 100% Pinot Noir
Zero dosage, very low sulphur content, non-filtered, nature
Awards & Ratings
90 Points Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate:
"Disgorged in July 2018, Drappier's NV Brut Nature Pinot Noir Zero Dosage André et Michel offers up attractive aromas of crisp golden orchard fruit, honeycomb and warm biscuits. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, vinous and chalky, with racy acids, good depth at the core and a dry, mineral finish. As usual, this is a very nicely balanced bottling and fine value, too." - William Kelley, 30-04-2020
