Pomerol stands for great quality at unfortunately often sinfully expensive prices. That does not always have to be, because with Chateau Rouget you have straight Pomerol in the glass and this at an extremely fair price.
The chateau was guard kissed at the beginning of the 19th century by the then mayor of Pomerol - Pierre Bayonne. The Labruyere family, which has been at work since 1992, has consistently trimmed the winery to quality without much fuss and made it a real insider tip in Pomerol. But Chateau Rouget produces on 18ha annually approx. 78000 bottles, which are developed to 50% in new Barrique.
