The DELON family, owners of the medocain estate Léoville Las Cases and Potensac, bought Château Nénin in 1997 to their cousins DESPUJOL. In this way the estate has been in the same family since 1840.
The actual estate is 34 hectares big within 28 that are used for the wine production. 1/3 of the vineyard is planted with wines that came from Léoville and was extended of 4 hectares thanks to the purchase of Château Cartan Guiraud. The grape variety proportion is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The vines are located of gravel and clay soils on the south side of the high plateau of Pomerol. This one has a perfect exposition that helps for the maturity of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 28 years old. The work led on the vines is traditional and the harvest is manual.
Thanks to important work done in the vineyard and cellars (construction of a new tank cellar equipped by thermo-regulation) the quality of the wines improved. The ageing is led in barrels within 30% a new during 18 months.
