Château Grand Mayne also has an ancient past, with some of its beautiful buildings dating back to the 15th century. More than 200 years, from 1685 to 1893, it was the family Laveau, which led the fate of Grand Mayne and under this the chateau had in the meantime an extension of 63ha vineyard. After the Napoleonic Wars of Succession, the cultivated area shrank to the still existing size of 19ha. Since the year 1934 with the take-over of Grand Mayne by the Nony family continuity has returned. Today, it is managed by Damien and Jean Antoine Nony, who also rely on the expertise of Michel Rolland.
By Saint Emilion standards, the vineyards are classically planted with Merlot (76%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (11%). The wines of Chateau Grand Mayne, which are incredibly rich and concentrated in good years, have a great price-performance ratio and are among the most remarkable addresses among the Grand Cru Classés Chateaux.
