The origins of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou go back to the 17th century, when the estate was still part of Beychevelle. Since 1941, when Francis Borie took over the sceptre on Ducru Beaucaillou, it has been owned by the Borie family. His grandson Bruno, whose first vintage was the magnificent 2003, is one of the few Chateau owners still living in the actual estate.

The 52 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The wine has a very special character, which due to its stubbornness in its youth does not meet with undivided love by all Bordeaux fans. Once a Ducru Beaucaillou has overcome its youthful slumber phase, however, it can offer an extraordinary drinking experience and is then one of the best wines of the Medoc.
