Chateau Charmail, located in the northern Haut Medoc in the immediate vicinity of Sociando Mallet, has existed since the 16th century.
Since Olivier Sezé took over the chateau in 1982 and, with tireless ambition, initiated extensive improvements in the vineyard and wine cellar, the estate has been able to narrow the gap to its more famous neighbour step by step. In 2008, he handed over the sceptre to Bernard d`Halluin, but is still active as an advisor to the chateau. Since 2010, Charmail has regained its historic size of 28ha through acquisitions. The style of the winery is designed for earlier accessibility, but it does not want to forego depth and tension.
