Château Pedesclaux was created at the beginning of the 19th century by Mr. Urbain Pierre PEDESCLAUX, famous Bordeaux wine broker. Mr. PEDESCLAUX extended the estate’s surface by buying several plots to the domaine du Grand Puy. In 1855, Château Pedesclaux is ranked fifith Crus Classé of the Médoc region. When Mr. PEDESCLAUX died, his wife managed the gestation of the estate until 1891. The count of GASTEBOIS then bought the estate. Upon his arrival the chateau was reconstructed in order to increase the quality of the wines. During the year 2000’s the renovations of the chartreuse dated from 1755 start in order to create 5 rooms, a catering room and a seminary room. The estate is managed by the LORENZETTI Family since 2009.
This 35 years old vineyard is 36 hectares big. The soils are gravel-clay calcareous and silica. The grape variety proportion is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45%, Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The LORENZETTI Family works hard to bring out the best of the grapes: vertical shoot positioning, de-dubbing and thinning out of the leaves and manual harvest.
In the cellar the grapes are put into the vats by gravity without crushing for a total of 8 weeks. A cold pre-fermentary maceration is led. The wine is then aged in barrels.
