The creation of the vineyard goes back to 1861. The château Larrivaux Comtesse de Carheil is one of the rare estates of the Médoc which has belonged to the same family for more than 3 centuries. The current owners and managers are the direct descendants of the founders of the estate. One of the particularity of the estate if that the descendants are only female since its creation in 1580. Franck, in 1824, in his “Traité sur les Vins du Médoc”, ranks Larrivaux as one the two best crus of the district. Regarding Paguierre in 1829, in his “Classification et description des Vins de Bordeaux”, ranked Larrivaux at the first place of Cissac.
