Château Grand-Puy Ducasse was founded in 18th century. The vineyard had been owned by the wine trade group Cordier-Mestrezat for a long time. This company had to sell the whole estate to the Crédit Agricole investment group because of financial difficulties.
The planting counts 60 per cents of Cabernet Sauvignon and 40 per cents of Merlot. The wine ripens in the barriques renewed to the half for each vintage. Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse 2005 has rather shy character, with the notes of nutty oak and dense fruits on the nose. The wine is well-balanced, in elegant and light style. The composition is good, with supple flavours.
