For centuries, the Chevaliers de Védrines were the owners of this vineyard, to which they gave their name. In 1855 it was named Grand Cru Classé and was bought in the middle of the 19th century by the ancestors of the current owners.
Château Doisy-Védrines is situated on the clay and limestone hilltop of Haut Barsac. The soils of the vineyards are worked in the traditional way, manual harvesting is done in several (six to eight) passes. Fermentation and ageing take place in barrels made exclusively of French oak.
The combination of traditional and modern methods gives the wines of Château Doisy-Védrines the fullness and finesse typical of great Sauternes wines. The annual production amounts to 36 000 bottles.
In their youth, the wines are well-balanced and a pleasure to drink as an aperitif. Older vintages are ideal to end a meal.
