Kirwan is an infinitely charming vineyard. The manor house in classical style was built at the end of the 18th century by the Irish businessman Mark Kirwan, who united two small adjacent vineyards in the village of Cantenac and gave them his name. He gave his wine such a high reputation that Thomas Jefferson, on a trip in 1787, praised it above all else and placed the "Château de Quirouen" in the second category in his work "Jefferson on wines", on the same level as the Ségur, Lynch, etc. wineries

In 1855, during the classification of Médoc wines for the World Exhibition organised by Napoleon III, Château Kirwan was named the first of the Third Grands Crus Classés. In the second half of the 19th century, the Godard family acquired and enlarged the estate and created the current park with its fishpond and rosebower.

In 1926, the Schÿler family, originally Hanseatic and resident in Bordeaux as wine merchants since 1739, bought the estate. They made significant investments after the 1970s and have managed the estate ever since. To complement the skills of Sophie, Nathalie and Yann Schÿler, the experienced oenologist Philippe Delfaut was appointed General Manager in 2007.

Château Kirwan counts to the well-known vineyards of Médoc in Bordeaux. The area under cultivation is planted with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.
