Chateau Leoville Las Cases, a winery still completely surrounded by walls and located in the immediate vicinity of Chateau Latour, is the leading winery in Saint Julien and year after year first challenger to the Premiers from Medoc.
The second wine of Leoville Las Cases is called Clos du Marquis and from a quality point of view it should not be called such at all. Clos du Marquis is consistently at Cru Classé level and one of the best second wines of all. No wonder with the specially designated location west of the Rue de Chateau between Leoville Poyferré and Leoville Barton.
