Chateau L'Evangile from Pomerol was mentioned for the first time in a document in the middle of the 18th century and was called "Fazilleau". At the beginning of the 19th century it was sold to a lawyer named Isambert, who gave the estate its present name. Since 1990, L`Evangile has been under the wings of the Domaines Baron de Rothschild, which owns vineyards such as Duhart Milon, Rieussec and above all the Premier Cru Lafite-Rothschild.
The 14 hectares of vineyards are in illustrious proximity to top estates such as Cheval Blanc and Petrus. They are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine matures up to 18 months in 80% new barriques. In very good years, L'Evangile is a majestic and elegant wine, characterized by splendid fullness and opulence. Then you have to take it quickly, because L'Evangile only produces 2000-3000 bottles per year.
