The origins of Chateau Figeac reach back to the Roman empire; at least, its name is derivated from a Gallo-Roman mansion in 2nd century called Figeacus. After numerous owners and their changes the original area became smaller and smaller. Only under management by Thierry Manoncourt stability and continuity were back at Chateau Figeac. Similarly to Cheval Blanc Figeac is situated in the Nothern West of appellation on the border with Pomerlo at the same gravel plateau.
The vine varieties are 35% of Cabertet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 30% of Merlot. The high percentage of Cavebertet Sauvignon unusual for Saint-Émilion grants the wine its unique character. The vinification is processed in new barriques each ear, thus, the wine is elegant with a note of herbs and aromatics of blackberries and red berries.
